End of Life Doula Support
In 2019, Kelly trained to become an End of Life Doula, a term you might not have heard of, but people have been supporting the dying and bereaved for centuries.
What is an End of Life/ Death Doula?
Someone who offers support to others when they face terminal diagnoses. This is a non-medical advocacy role, that helps those who are facing difficult decisions about their illness and end of life stage.
How can End of Life Doulas help?
1- By offering emotional support for the dying and bereaved.
2- By offering advocacy to ensure that the person’s wishes and needs are heard and respected.
3- By supporting their communities and raising awareness of how to support those that are dying.
4- By offering practical support such as guidance on how to get documentation prepared in advance and to co-ordinate with everyone who is part of that person’s care team.
5- By supporting the family and friends with after death support, both emotionally and practically.
Funeral Celebrancy
In 2020, Kelly trained to become a funeral celebrant. Having attended some funerals which did not capture the essence of the deceased person, Kelly aims to work alongside family and friends to create beautiful, meaningful and impactful services, as they say goodbye to their loved ones.
